Tech Tips is a student-led initiative dedicated to bridging the digital divide for seniors. At Tech Tips, we are dedicated to enhancing the lives of seniors by providing them with the knowledge, support, and accessibility they need to navigate the digital world. Our team is passionate about fostering intergenerational connections and ensuring that seniors feel confident and capable of using technology to enrich their lives.
Our Story
How Tech Tips Began
Tech Tips was founded in 2023 by Shaan Chawhan, a student who saw a need for technology assistance among seniors. Shaan’s experience helping his own grandparents with tech issues revealed a larger problem—many seniors lack easy access to support for their technology needs. Not every senior citizen has a younger person in their life to help them. This insight sparked the idea to create a program that not only helps seniors but also provides students with an opportunity to give back to their community.
Our Mission
Our mission at Tech Tips is twofold:
Empower Seniors: We are dedicated to helping seniors navigate and enjoy modern technology, from smartphones and tablets to social media and email. By offering hands-on support and clear, patient instruction, we aim to make technology accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
Foster Community Connections: We believe in the power of intergenerational relationships. Our volunteers not only provide tech assistance but also build meaningful connections with seniors, enriching both senior citizens' lives and their own.
Looking Ahead
We are excited to expand Tech Tips to more schools, partnering with Watermark Retirement Communities to replicate our success. Our goal is to spread the benefits of Tech Tips far and wide, helping even more seniors stay connected and engaged with technology while offering students valuable volunteer experiences.
